2024-2025 Winter Program Highlights

SSWSC’s 2024-2025 Alpine Program included 89 athletes with support from 17 coaches.

- 16-year-old Logan Grosdidier won the U18 class in the GS at Junior World Championships in Tarvisio, Italy, with the fastest overall 2nd run time of the day. Logan is the #1 ranked athlete her age in Slalom, GS, and Super-G.
- Jett Seymour landed three top-25 World Cup slalom results and ended the season ranked 2nd among US men in slalom, and 38th in the world in the discipline.
- Jeremy Nolting placed top-20 in all four disciplines at Junior World Championships, the only athlete at the event to do so, with his best result an 8th in GS.
- Abby Olson was overall U18 National Champion, winning both the Downhill and GS at the event.
- Five SSWSC alumni represented their colleges and universities at this year’s NCAA Championships: Bode Flanigan 3rd in SL (Boston College), Nicholas Unkovskoy (Middlebury), Hannah Soria (Colby College), Isabelle Washburn (Dartmouth College). SSWSC currently has 35 athletes skiing at the collegiate NCAA level in alpine and cross country.
Freestyle Moguls
Alumna Jaelin Kauf won this year’s World Cup Overall, Moguls, and Duals crystal globes, as well as winning Dual Moguls at World Championships in St. Moritz, SUI. Jaelin is currently the #1 ranked moguls athlete in the world.
Anabel Ayad earned 2nd place finishes in Moguls at the NorAm at Deer Valley and NorAm finals, placing 2nd in the NorAm Moguls overall standings.
Mia Satkiewicz and Liam Siefken won the U19 classes and Scotty Kane won aerials at Junior Nationals.
All 14 SSWSC athletes who are eligible for Junior Nationals qualified for the event: Liam Siefken, Mia Satkiewicz, Claire Boyle, Jack Perkins, Scotty Kane, Shane Mariano, Anouk Bradley, Finley Fontaine, Lyllah Miller, Gigi Lobeck, Griffin Harvey, Cole Anderson, Henry Crump, and Sydney Soard.
Nine athletes qualified for US National Championships at Palisades Tahoe: Peyton Billeisen, Liam Siefken, Shane Mariano, Jack Perkins, Anabel Ayad, Mia Satkiewicz, Claire Boyle, Anouk Bradley, and Gigi Lobeck.
Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined
Alexa Brabec has scored the best-ever results for an SSWSC female nordic combined athlete this season, with multiple top-10 World Cup results and a personal-best 4th place in the Individual Mass Start Normal Hill event at World Championships in Trondheim, NOR, the best individual result from Team USA at the event.
Jason Colby took bronze in the team jumping event and silver in the mixed team event at Junior World Championships in Lake Placid, USA. These are the first team jumping medals ever won for the USA at Junior Worlds.
Nine SSWSC athletes represented Team USA at World Championships in Trondheim, NOR: Alexa Brabec, Haley Brabec, Annika Malacinski, Ella Wilson, Erik Lynch, Niklas Malacinski, Annika Belshaw, Erik Belshaw, and Jason Colby.
Seven SSWSC athletes represented the US at Junior World Championships in Lake Placid, USA: Haley Brabec, Ella Wilson, Arthur Tyrone, Ethan Maines, Jason Colby, Sawyer Graves, Estella Hasrick.
SSWSC qualified 18 athletes for Junior National Championships, earning 17 of the total 34 medals awarded at the event.
Cross Country
SSWSC placed 2nd in the ‘Colorado Cup’, the season-long tally of results from all Rocky Mountain Region Junior National Qualifier events.
16 SSWSC athletes qualified for Junior National Championships. Tristan Thrasher was 2nd in the U18 mass start freestyle and four other SSWSC athletes placed in the top-10 at the event.
Alumni Grey Barbier (University of Montana) and Trey Jones (University of Colorado) both represented the US at Junior World Championships in Schilpario, ITA.
Alumni Chase High (St. Scholastica) and Grey Barbier (Montana State) competed at the NCAA Championships.
Snowboarding
Alumnus Cody Winters was the first US athlete in history to compete in both snowboardcross and alpine race in the same World Championships in Engadin, SUI. Cody had the best season of his career, with two World Cup podium results and a 5th in Parallel GS and the Parallel Team event at World Championships. Cody was joined at World Championships by SSWSC athletes Virginia Boyd (snowboardcross), Walker Overstake (alpine), and alumna Maddy Schaffrick (halfpipe).
Virginia Boyd competed in her first snowboardcross World Cup in Cortina, ITA, placing 28th, and won the NorAm overall standings.
Walker Overstake and Sam Carpenter represented the USA and GB, respectively, at the 2025 FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships in Zakopane, POL. Walker took 5th while Sam was just behind in 7th in Parallel Slalom.
Riley McNew, Reid Graham, and Jayla McGlone have qualified for the IFSA Junior Freeride Championships.
Alumna Maddy Schaffrick has had amazing year in her comeback to the sport of halfpipe, placing 9th at World Championships and is currently ranked 12th in the world.
Freeski
Alumna Ellie Reynolds won the U-19 class in the IFSA 3* Junior National Big Mountain event in Snowbird.
In the final IFSA 3* National event of the season at Breckenridge alumnus Gavin Murphy won the U19 class.
Six SSWSC athletes and alumni were invited to compete in the IFSA Junior Freeride Championships in April: Vander Zuck, Branigan Murphy, Banks Ward, Ryan Montgomery, Ellie Reynolds, and Gavin Murphy.
Youth Programs
562 youth athletes participated in SSWSC programs in winter 2024-2025.
247 young athletes age 7-12 competed in Steamboat Cups this winter. These free after-school competitive events in alpine, ski jumping, cross country, moguls, and big mountain at Howelsen Hill provided fun, low-stress, intro-level competitions.
169 youth athletes participated in SSWSC’s innovative multi-sport programs that allow kids to combine alpine, cross country, ski jumping, or snowboarding to make the most of everything the club and Steamboat has to offer.
