RACE DATE AND LOCATION: (Note we are at different places each day)
Saturday, January 19 – Howelsen Hill Ski Area – Parallel race and other on-snow activities and pizza party
Sunday, January 20 – Steamboat Ski Resort – SkillsQuest skiing assessment and all-mountain skills activities
Saturday: The racers take over Howelsen Hill with a dual panel slalom race, lots of training courses (panels,
stubbies, off-piste, etc.), open jumping on the HS30 and smaller nordic jumps, a speed trap on the HS75 jump
outrun, mogul skiing, and air bag jumping. Athletes treated to a pizza party before the parallel top 16 brackets (by
gender and age class) take place under the lights! Events start late morning to allow families to drive if they wish,
athletes will meet at 10:30am.
Sunday: Athletes will ski at Steamboat Ski Resort in groups with skiers from other clubs and led by a coach through
the SkillsQuest assessment (Phase 2 for U10’s and Phase 3 for U12’s) where they will be evaluated by U.S. Ski &
Snowboard certified evaluators. SkillsQuest, along with race results, gives a more complete evaluation of a ski
racer’s abilities. In addition, groups will take part in skills challenges around the mountain getting lots of mileage.
For athletes to discover speed, air awareness, fundamental skills, and camaraderie with other skiers their age from
across the division in a fun, action-packed event. This weekend has become the favorite for many young ski racers!
ELIGIBILITY: RMD skiers U12 and younger, U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership is required
Athletes pay entry fees online at my.ussa.org using the Athlete Event Registration tool. A $25 late fee will be
charged for all late entries received after January 16. NO PHONE ENTRIES.
$35 Saturday, includes parallel race, jump complex activities and pizza party
Saturday – 9:00-11:30am at Olympian Hall (2nd level Howelsen Hill Lodge)
Sunday – 7:30-8:30am at The Loft Room (Gondola Square at Steamboat Ski Area, second floor above the Transit Center
Steamboat Ski & Sport shop which is next to the Wildhorse Gondola terminal – not the main gondola)
LIFT TICKETS – purchase at race registration:
$15 Saturday Howelsen Hill – due to special operating hours for this event, CSCUSA Passports are not accepted
$55 Sunday Steamboat Ski Resort. Parent and sibling discounted tickets will be available for purchase at the main
ticket office (20% off window price). CSCUSA Passports may be used, must go to ticket window to redeem.

AGE CLASS SERIES
Clubs must submit a list of their coaches with email addresses to email@example.com by January 17. Coaches
must have a current U.S. Ski & Snowboard coach membership for a lift ticket, this will be checked. Coaches for the
SkillsQuest day on Sunday will be assigned to lead a group with another coach with athletes mixed from different
clubs. Bring good skis and poles you can ski the whole mountain on. Specific schedule and details will be provided.

Sunday, Jan 20 7:45am next to outdoor stage in Gondola Square, Steamboat Ski Resort
Top 3 by class (U10 & U12) for parallel race, presented immediately following race, Howelsen Hill Lodge
Top 10 by class (U10 & U12) for SkillsQuest assessment, presented at 3:15 at Gondola Stage
Howelsen Hill: Parking is free, lanes by lodge are drop-off/pick-up only.
Steamboat Ski Resort: Free shuttle-service parking in Meadows Lot beginning at 7:30. Free Knoll Lot and walk to
base, fills quickly. Close-in pay parking available around Gondola Square and Ski Time Square.
Athletes must wear their helmets for all on-snow elements of the event.
Twin tips or freeskiing skis recommended for air bag jumping on Saturday.
Slalom or GS skis may be used for SkillsQuest assessment and all all-mountain activities on Sunday. Twin
tips or freeskiing skis are not recommended for SkillsQuest.
All of Saturday’s events can be viewed from the base of the ski area. Sunday’s activities are all over the
