Ski Cross Overview
With the addition of SkiCross to the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, interest in the sport is at an all-time high. Combining elements of ski racing, freestyle skiing and freeskiing, SkiCross is one of the most exciting winter speed events. SkiCross is a head to head race with 4 to 6 competitors simultaneously navigating a course with a variety of features including berms, rollers, jumps and gates. The concept is easy- first skier across the finish line wins. The SSWSC has all the elements in place to help our athletes to prepare for this new and exciting event.
The SSWSC is offering a full slate of skicross programs for interested freestyle or alpine skiers ages 10-18. Training sessions will teach SkiCross fundamentals such as starts, air, berms, rollers, pumping and tucking. The program is designed to prepare the SkierCross racer for upcoming regional and National competitions. It is highly recommended that SkiCross athletes also participate in a full time Alpine or Freestyle program.
