The Denver University Invitational took place January 6-9 last week the first event of the 2025 collegiate circuit in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) division. There were two days of slalom racing at the Loveland Ski Area before the giant slalom competition at Copper Mountain. While collegiate racers compete to earn points for their team and a chance to make it to the NCAA Championships, non-collegiate and high school FIS athletes can also race in the events with the opportunity to race against the top collegiate skiers in the country.
SSWSC’s Logan Grosdidier put up a fight against the collegiate athletes, matching the time of University of Utah’s Claire Timmermann in the first run of the giant slalom. Logan lost her lead in the second run to Louison Accambray from the University of Colorado, ending up in an impressive 2nd place with Claire Timmerman in 3rd. Logan is a junior in high school and a first-year FIS athlete. Logan also placed 8th and 9th in the two slalom races at Loveland against the same field the two days before the giant slalom.
Logan posted incredible results in Steamboat at the Holiday Classic, landing on the podium in 3rd place against elite-level athletes in the Holiday Classic slalom day race on Howelsen. This podium finish was just off her stellar finishes at the North American (NORAM) Cup at Panorama Resort in Canada were she had top 20 results in multiple races.
