Freeskiing

The SSWSC Freeskiing Team is wrapping up the season and for 9 of the athletes, using the next few weeks to prepare for USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain March 6th-11th.  There will be athletes competing in Half Pipe, Slopestyle, and Rail Jam during that week.  To be able to compete in Nationals you must qualify by competing in the regional USASA events, then at the end of the season be a certain rank nationally amongst all USASA competitors in the nation to receive an invite.  It takes hard work, dedication, and love for the sport to get there sometimes and we hope all the competitors have a great time and enjoy competing at Nationals this year!

One SSWSC athlete who has made the decision to leave Steamboat and daily training with the SSWSC to train regularly in the full size venues of summit county is Liam Baxter.  Liam is wrapping up a very busy competitive season including Revolution Tour events in Park City, UT (Ss 19, Hp 11) and Mammoth Mountain, CA (Ss 44, Hp, 5).  Also attending USSA Freestyle Jr Nationals Park City where he won the overall Half Pipe event.

We are looking forward to finishing the USASA season in Copper, and The IFSA Season in snowbird in early April.
