Nordic Combined/Ski Jumping

Despite it being summer, our Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping athletes have already competed in their first U.S. Nationals and the “Springer Tournee”, and have returned home with HUGE results! These competitions are held on the plastic jump facilities in Park City, which adds to the excitement. The Springer Tournee took place on the HS100 on Friday, while the National Championships were held on Saturday and Sunday on the HS100 and HS134. Noteworthy from the Springer Tournee was that Decker Dean won the U20 Men’s class (for the third time) and Annika Belshaw was 2nd in U20 Women. Decker then continued to have incredible results in the U.S. Nationals; he was the 3rd American both days which qualified him for the US National Team! Congratulations, Decker!

The most exciting aspect of this tournament was that SSWSC athletes took podium spots in nearly every jumping category; SSWSC Athletes and Alumni took 10 out of the 18 total podium spots in SJ and NC! Over 50% of podium spots went to the hard working athletes of our club! Athletes came home with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 6 bronze.

In addition to a high podium count, it is worth noting that this was the FIRST TIME we have had two female Nordic Combined athletes stand together on the podium; congratulations to Alexa Brabec who was 2nd and Tess Arnone who was 3rd!
Koen Stroock and Thomas Miller took 1st and 3rd respectively on the HS42 (in a competitive field of U14’s), and Thomas Miller ended up skiing to 1st place in the Nordic Combined race. Congratulations to all of the athletes and these incredible results!
