GiGi Boyd Wins Steamboat Snowboardcross NorAm and Walker Overstake Wins Parallel Slalom NorAm

The Holeshot Cross Tour made its second stop of the North American Cup (NorAm) snowboardcross circuit at Steamboat Resort from February 2-5, 2025, and Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) athlete Virginia “Gigi” Boyd delivered a stellar performance. Boyd, who claimed second place on February 3, followed up with a commanding win on February 4, marking her second victory on the NorAm circuit since a first-place finish last year. Boyd followed her win at the NorAm race with another win on February 5, when she won in the FIS snowboardcross race, held the day after the NorAm races at Steamboat Resort.
Boyd’s victory comes at an ideal time as she prepares for her first World Cup appearance next week in Cortina, Italy, February 14-15, 2025. The Holeshot Cross Tour, which serves as a bridge between grassroots and World Cup competition for Snowboard Cross and Ski Cross, provided an important platform for Boyd’s preparation.
The rest of the SSWSC team also saw success. Cooper Malia finished 31st on February 3 and 39th on February 4, while Logan Kolodsick earned 16th on February 3 and 17th on February 4. Both athletes reached the finals for the first time in their NorAm careers.
SSWSC Snowboard Program Director Alex Deibold praised the athletes’ progress. “Cooper and Logan are improving tremendously. It’s a huge accomplishment to make it to the finals, but because of the head-to-head nature of snowboardcross, where anything can happen with other racers close on the course, their overall results aren’t a good reflection of how well they are riding.”
And up north in Toronto on February 5-6, Walker Overstake was taking the NorAm races by storm, placing 2nd in the Parallel Giant Slalom on February 5 and winning the Parallel Slalom on February 6.
